History & Mission:

Having already many national and international performances to its name, the Friuli Venezia Giulia Choir is one of the most significant musical realities of the Region.

Together with the Friuli Venezia Giulia Symphonic Orchestra, the Choir has recorded some of the most famous compositions in the history of music, such as the Requiem by Mozart and Symphony No. 9 by L.v. Beethoven. The modular structure of the Choir allows a great variety of repertoire in the full respect of the philological praxis. Its performances range from the ancient music sung by a restricted group to the symphonic music performed by a grand choir.

The Choir has performed some of the most famous pages by Bach, George Frideric Handel, Mozart, Haydn, L.v. Beethoven, Verdi, Leonard Bernstein, Orff. Furthermore the ensemble has cooperated with renowned Jazz musicians such as Kenny Wheeler, John Surman, John Taylor, Markus Stockhausen, Enrico Rava, Klaus Gesing and Glauco Venier. Moreover, it has collaborated with important pop artists including Andrea Bocelli, Tosca and Edoardo De Angelis. Throughout the years, the choir has also developed strong friendships with Maestro Gustav Leonhardt and soprano Emma Kirkby, who are undoubtedly the greatest points of reference for ancient and Baroque music.

The choir performs approximately twenty times a year staging various productions. It has recently been included in the season programmes of Carniarmonie, Nei Suoni dei Luoghi, Estate in Città, Natale in Musica, Talos Festival in Ruvo di Puglia, L’altro Suono at the Teatro Comunale in Modena, Musica e Poesia in S. Maurizio Milan, the Monteverdi Festival in Cremona, the Musikverein in Klagenfurt, the Mittelfest, the Wien Musikwochen in Vienna, Stadttheater in Klagenfurt, Amici della Musica in Padua, Soli Deo Gloria in Reggio Emilia, Emilia Romagna Festival, Quaranta Concerti Sacri in Rome, Stagione Concertistica in Potenza. The Choir regularly performs with the Friuli Venezia Giulia Symphonic Orchestra, the Tiepolo Baroque Orchestra, the Ensemble Aura Soave, The Hungarian baroque orchestra Capella Savaria, the Slovakian baroque orchestra Solamente Naturali and the Austrian Junge Philarmonie, Vienna.
