Christian Samuel Barth (Bach’s Pupil)

Born: January 11, 1735 - Glauchau, Saxony, Germany
Died: July 8, 1809

Christian Samuel Barth was a German oboist. He attended the Thomasschule in Leipzig (c1748-1750), where he was taught by J.S. Bach, and was later active as an orchestral player and soloist at Rudolstadt, Weimar, Hannover, Kassel, and Copenhagen. His two sons, Philip (1774-1804) and Christian Frederik (1787-1861), were also oboists.
