Philipp David Kräuter (Composer, Bach's Pupil)

Born: August 14, 1690 - Augsburg, Bavaria, Germany
Died: October 7 or 11, 1741 - Augsburg, Bavaria, Germany

Philipp David; Kräuter was a German organist, teacher, Kantor, composer and music director. He went to Weimar in 1712 to study with J.S. Bach, and in his request to the Augsburg authorities to prolong his studies he mentioned the prospect of hearing 'much fine Italian and French music from which I shall be able to profit in the composing of concertos and overtures'. In September 1737, Kräuter left Weimar to make up the post of Kantor and director musices at the Annenkirche in Augsburg, where he remained for the rest of his life. among his pupils there was the composeer Johann Caspar Seyfert (1697-1767).
