Charles Webb (Arranger)

Born: February 14, 1933 - Dallas, Texas, USA

American pianist, organist, conductor, and music educator, Charles H(aizlip, Jr.) Webb, was educated at Southern Methodist University (A.B. and M.Mus., 1955) and Indiana University (D.Mus., 1964)

Charles Webb joined the faculty of Indiana University as an instructor in piano in 1958; became an assistant professor of music in 1964 and an associate professor in 1967. He was named assistant dean of the School of Music in 1964, associate dean in 1969, and dean in 1973. He retired in 1997.

Charles Webb toured the USA with the pianist Wallace Hornibrook in duo-recitals; also toured as a concert organist. He served as organist at the 1st Methodist Church in Bioomington, Indiana from 1961, and as conductor of the Indianapolis Symphonic Choir from 1967 to 1981. In 1967 he was appointed commissioner of the Indiana Arts Commission. In 1983 he was named a member of the Indiana Academy.
