Christian Gottlob Wunch (Organ, Bach's Pupil)

Born: December 1720 (baptised: December 17, 1720 - Joachimstein, near Radmeritz, Lower Silesia, Germany (now: Radomierzyce, Poland)
Died: 1754 - Glogau, Lower Silesia, Germany (now: Głogów, Poland)

Christian Gottlob Wunsch was a German organist. He attended the Gymnasium in Görlitz from 1732; and the University of Leipzig in 1741 (enrollment on July 22, 1741). He received private instruction with J.S. Bach in Leipzig for two years (1742-1743). J.S. Bach's letter of recommendation Leipzig, December 16, 1743. In 1743 he was an unsuccessful candidate for a post as court organist at Zeitz. In 17531 or 17433 he was appointed organist at Glogau, where he died the following year.

In 1743, J.S. Bach issued a certificate "wegen des, in die 2. Jahre bey mir gehabten Unterrichts in der Music und besonders auf dem Clavire" (because of the lessons in music that I had with me in the second year, and especially on the clavier). In his unsuccessful application for the Schloßorganistendienst (castle service organist) in Zeitz (1743) Wunsch also mentioned the student relationship himself.
