1. CHOR

Tönet, ihr Pauken! Erschallet, Trompeten!
Klingende Saiten, erfüllet die Luft!
Singet itzt Lieder, ihr muntren Poeten,
Königin lebe! wird fröhlich geruft.
Königin lebe! dies wünschet der Sachse,
Königin lebe und blühe und wachse!

Resound you tympanis! Ring out, trumpets!
Reverberating strings, fill the air!
Sing now songs, you spirited poets,
Long live the Queen! will be gladly exclaimed.
Long live the Queen! this wishes the Saxon,
long live the Queen and flourish and prosper!

2. REZITATIV (Tenor)

IRENE
Heut ist der Tag,
wo jeder sich erfreuen mag.
Dies ist der frohe Glanz
der Königin Geburtsfests-Stunden,
die Polen, Sachsen und uns ganz
in größter Lust und Glück erfunden.
Mein Ölbaum
kriegt so Saft als fetten Raum.
Er zeigt noch keine falbe Blätter;
mich schreckt kein Sturm, Blitz,
trübe Wolken, düstres Wetter.

IRENE
Today is the day
on which everyone might rejoice.
This is the happy glow
of the Queen’s birthday hours,
the Poles, Saxons and each one of us
are found in great delight and happiness.
My olive tree
yields its nectar as wide expanse.
It shows yet no fading leaves;
I am undaunted by storm, lightning,
or dark clouds of gloomy weather.

3. ARIA (Sopran)

BELLONA
Blast die wohlgegriffnen Flöten,
daß Feind, Lilien, Mond erröten,
schallt mit jauchzendem Gesang!
Tönt mit eurem Waffenklang!
Dieses Fest erfordert Freuden,
die so Geist als Sinnen weiden.

BELLONA
Blow the well-held flutes.
until foe, lilies, and moon blush,
resound with jubilant song!
Intone with your weapons clashing!
This feast commands joy,
that spirit like mind might graze.

4. REZITATIV (Sopran)

BELLONA
Mein knallendes Metall
der in der Luft erbebenden Kartaunen,
der frohe Schall;
das angenehme Schauen;
die Lust, die Sachsen itzt empfindt,
rührt vieler Menschen Sinnen.
Mein schimmerndes Gewehr
nebst meiner Söhne gleichen Schritten
und ihre heldenmäßge Sitten
vermehren immer mehr und mehr
des heutgen Tages süße Freude.

BELLONA
The clashing of metal in the air
from my convulsing cannons,
such glad sounds;
a pleasant sight;
the passion which the Saxons now feel,
stirs the minds of many people.
My gleaming weaponry
next to my sons matched strides
and their heroic mores
multiply even more and more
the sweet joy of the present day.

5. ARIA (Alt)

PALLAS
Fromme Musen! meine Glieder!
Singt nicht längst bekannte Lieder!
Dieser Tag sei eure Lust!
Füllt mit Freuden eure Brust!
Werft so Kiel als Schriften nieder
und erfreut euch dreimal wieder!

ATHENA
Devout muses! my companions!
Sing not songs from long ago!
May this day be your enjoyment!
May your bosom be filled with joy!
Throw down the quill from writing
and rejoice three times over!

6. REZITATIV (Alt)

PALLAS
Unsre Königin im Lande,
die der Himmel zu uns sandte,
ist der Musen Trost und Schutz.
Meine Pierinnen wissen,
die in Ehrfurcht ihren Saum noch küssen,
vor ihr stetes Wohlergehn
Dank und Pflicht und Ton stets zu erhöhn.
Ja, sie wünschen, daß ihr Leben
möge lange Lust uns geben.

ATHENA
Our queen sent by heaven
to us in this land,
is the muses’ comfort and protection.
My Pierides(muses) who in reverence
yet kiss the hem of her dress, know
to continually raise their thanks and duty and tones. for her lasting wellbeing.
Yes, they wish, that her life
might grant us long delight.

7. ARIA (Baß)

FAMA
Kron und Preis gekrönter Damen,
Königin! mit deinem Namen
füll ich diesen Kreis der Welt.
Was der Tugend stets gefällt
und was nur Heldinnen haben,
sein dir angeborne Gaben.

PHEME
Crown and prize of crowned women,
Queen! with your name
do I cover the sphere of the world.
Whatever is pleasing to virtue
and what only heroines hold
are your intrinsic gifts.

8. REZITATIV (Baß)

FAMA
So dringe in das weite Erdenrund
mein von der Königin erfüllter Mund!
Ihr Ruhm soll bis zum Axen
des schön gestirnten Himmels wachsen,
die Königin der Sachsen und der Polen
sei stets des Himmels Schutz empfohlen.
So stärkt durch sie der Pol
so vieler Untertanen längst erwünschtes Wohl.
So soll die Königin noch lange bei uns hier verweilen
und spät, ach! spät zum Sternen eilen.

PHEME
So my mouth filled by the queen
projects across the wide
sphere of the earth,
that her renown rises up to the axis
of the beautiful, starry skies,
the Queen of the Saxons and the Poles
be ever commended to the protection of heaven.
Thus the Pole is empowered by her,
so many subjects’ long desired wellbeing.
Thus the queen shall linger with us still longer here,
and later, oh! later hasten to the stars.

9. CHOR

IRENE
Blühet, ihr Linden in Sachsen, wie Zedern!

BELLONA
Schallet mit Waffen und Wagen und Rädern!

PALLAS
Singet, ihr Musen, mit völligem Klang!

ALLE
Fröhliche Stunden, ihr freudigen Zeiten!
Gönnt uns noch öfters die güldenen Freuden:
Königin, lebe, ja lebe noch lang!

IRENE
Bloom, you lindens in Saxony, like cedars!

BELLONA
Resound with weapons and wagons and wheels!

ATHENA
Sing, you muses, with ample sound!

ALL
Merry hours, you happy times!
Do not yet begrudge us often these gilded joys:
Queen, live long, yes live yet long!
