English Translation

1

Jesu, deine Liebeswunden,
deine Angst und Todespein
haben mich so hoch verbunden,
dass ich kann beständig sein.

To be added

2

Meine Freude wird zwar sterben,
denn die Welt lässt mich allein
und will mich nun ganz verderben,
doch ich will beständig sein.

3

Will mich jedermann verlassen,
soll ich mich nicht mehr erfreun,
will mein Fleisch und Blut mich hassen,
will ich doch beständig sein.

4

Geist und Seele, Leib und Leben,
Herz und Sinn ist alles dein,
Alles hab ich dir ergeben
Dass ich kann beständig sein.

5

Will mein Glaubenslicht verschwinden,
ei, so soll dein heller Schein
das noch glimmend Docht anzünden,
dass ich kann beständig sein.

6

Will der Tod das Herze brechen,
senkt man mich ins Grab hinein,
soll mein Mund doch immer sprechen:
Dir will ich beständig sein.

7

Nun du kannst mich wohl erhalten,
wenn ich werde zu dir schrein,
lass die Liebe nicht erkalten,
so will ich beständig sein.
