The Dutch tenor, Dierick Aartsen, started his musical career at the age of 7 with the cello. After studying Musicology and Ethnomusicology at the University of Amsterdam, he studied Classical Singing at the Conservatorium van Utrecht (HKU) with Dobrinka Yankova (2018-2022). He then took lessons with Xenia Meijer.
Dierick Aartsen does not limit himself to a specific style but actually sings everything that comes his way. With an obsession for prima vista reading, many challenges are not too much for him. He has a preference for Russian music and language and for singing in small ensembles. For example, he sings with the ensemble FONOS and Ensemble Cantorex. He is also active with a number of different choirs, including the Bachkoor Holland and the Helsinki Chamber Choir. He also regularly performs as a soloist, including in various J.S. Bach's Cantatas and W.A. Mozart's Requiem. In the revival of Op Wacht, he plays the role of De Soldaat. He currently lives in Landsmeer. |
