James Apgar (Counter-tenor, Tenor)

The American counter-tenor, tenor and church musiciant, James Apgar, obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from Yale University (2005-2009); his Master of Arts degree in Musicology from University of California, Berkeley (2010-2012); and his Ph.D. in Musicology from University of California, Berkeley (2010-2018).

James Apgar has been Chorister at St. David's Church (September 1999-June 2005); Organist at Holy Advent Episcopal Church (Feb 2007-May 2008); Chorister at Episcopal Church at Yale (September 2005-May 2009); Accompanist at Alexandria Choral Society (September 2009-May 2010); Organist and Choral Accompanist at Episcopal High School (September 2009-June 2010); Alto Section Leader at Christ Church of Alexandria (September 2009-July 2010); Counter-tenor Preferred Sub at Washington National Cathedral (September 2009-July 2010); Counter-tenor/Tenor in Chalice Consort (September 2010-May 2011); Alto Section Leader at St. Mark's Episcopal Church (August 2010-June 2011); Counter-tenor/Tenor in Artists' Vocal Ensemble (April 2011-2012); Counter-tenor/Tenor in Pacific Collegium (February 2011-2017); Counter-tenor in American Bach Soloists (April 2011-2017; Director: Jeffrey Thomas), Organist at St. John’s Presbyterian Church in Berkeley (August 2013-March 2017); Chapel Musician at Church Divinity School of the Pacific in Berkeley (August 2018-June 2022); Associate for Music (Organist and choir director) at All Souls Episcopal Parish in San Francisco (March 2017-July 2022); Organist and Choirmaster at The Parish of the Good Shepherd in Waban, Massachusetts (since August 2022).
