Daniel Atkinson (Tenor)

Born: England

The English tenor, Daniel (Dan) Atkinson, obtained his Master of Scienes degree in Chemistry, specialising in magnetic resonance, from the University of Cambridge (2018-2022). During this period he was Choral Scholar in Trinity College Choir of Cambridge (Director: Stephen Layton), with whom he has performed as a soloist both in concert and on CD. His most recent solo appearances outside the choir have been in Rossini's Petite Messe Solennelle, George Frideric Handel's Israel in Egypt and J.S. Bach's Cantata BWV 9. As a recitalist, he has developed a speciality in songs by Benjamin Britten, most recently in the form of the Holy Sonnets of John Donne. He also enjoys small group singing, having performed at the Edinburgh Fringe with the university a capella group, Cadenza. He was also President of Trinity College Music Society. In December 2021, he performed as a soloist in G.F. Handel's Messiah at St Mary's Church Woodbridge with the Woodbridge Choral Society conducted by Andrew Leach.

Afer Cambridge, Daniel Atkinson was Tenor Choral Scholar at Canterbury Cathedral (September 2022-June 2023). He currently studies for his DPhil degree in Medical Sciences at the University of Oxford (since October 2023; exprected garaduation: September 2028).
