The Fench baritone, Paul-Louis Barlet, discovered singing at a very young age within the Maîtrise de la Cathédrale du Puy-en-Velay, his hometown. At 18, he joined Virginie Pochon's singing class at the École Nationale de Musique de Villeurbanne, then Pierre Ribémont's class at the Conservatoire Régional de Lyon, where he obtainedhis Diploma of Musical Studies (D.E.M.) in operatic singing. In September 2022, he continued his studies at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, in Frédéric Gindraux's singing class and Anne Le Bozec's art song and Lieder class. He has also participated in master-classes with Barbara Frittoli, Christian Immler, Kresimir Spicer, and Chantal Santon-Jeffery.
Alongside his formal training, Paul-Louis Barlet regularly performs as a soloist. On stage, he has performed a variety of roles, including the Doctor in Isabelle Aboulker's Jérémy Fisher, the Baron in Messager's L’Amour masqué, Zamnis in Royer's Almasis, and the Cat and the Clock in Ravel's L’Enfant et les Sortilèges. More recently, he sang Count Almaviva in W.A. Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro at the Conservatoire de Paris (CNSMDP), conducted by Paul Daniel and directed by Mariame Clément, as well as the roles of the Sacristan in Puccini's Tosca and the Husband in Francis Poulenc's Les Mamelles de Tirésias. This season, he will sing Brühlmann in Massenet's Werther at the Opéra-Comique.
Passionate about oratorio, Paul-Louis Barlet has sung in several major works, including the Requiems of Gabriel Fauré, W.A. Mozart, and Dvořák, the Passions of Alessandro Scarlatti and J.S. Bach, and Carl Orff's Carmina Burana.
Paul-Louis Barlet also collaborates as a chorister with prestigious ensembles such as Ensemble Correspondances (Director: Sébastien Daucé), Ensemble Pygmalion (Director: Raphaël Pichon), Les Éléments (Director: Joël Suhubiette), and Chœur de Radio-France (Director: Lionel Sow). For the 2025-2026 season, he is a member of the cadémie Favart de l’Opéra-Comique and the Académie Jarrousky. |
