The German mezzo-soprano/alto, Michelle Baum, began her musical journey with the piano. However, her interest quickly focused on (classical) singing. She took part in charity concerts and played in smaller opera productions - including as Cherubino in W.A. Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro and 3rd Lady in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte in a Mozart project in Havelberg. During the Lotte-Lehmann-Woche in Perleberg, she won a special prize for musical theater as a teenager. She has been studying for her Master's in Freelance Singing at the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien in Hannover in Henryk Böhm's class since October 2023. At the same time, she is currently in the final year of her Master's in teaching at the Universität der Künste Berlin with a major in classical singing. She completed her major there in 2021 under the mezzo-soprano Turan von Arnim.
In addition to studying to become a teacher at the Universität der Künste zu Berlin with a focus on music and English, Michelle Baum concentrated on developing her skills in ensemble and solo singing. Since 2018 she has been a permanent member of the award-winning Neuer Kammerchor Berlin and, after completing her Schola, she also sang as an academic with the Rundfunkchor Berlin in September 2022. She helps out with various Berlin ensembles and as a soloist. In the 2023-2024 season she will sing in the academy of the RIAS-Kammerchor Berlin.
Michelle Baum is mainly experienced in chamber music, choral music, historically informed performance, lied repertoire, opera repertoire, oratorio repertoire, projects with speaker, soloist performances, studio recordings, symphonic music, theatre projects and video / film. She made her solo debut in March 2023 with Karl Jenkins' Stabat Mater. |
