The German soprano and stage director, Katja Bening, gathered her first stage experiences as a young woman at the Hof Stadtbundtheater as a singer and trumpeter. At the Staatlichen Musikakademie in Sofia, she studied classical singing and theater music. She completed both courses in 2010 with a Master's degree.
At the same time Katja Bening assisted in the opera class of the Academy at the National Opera in Sofia. At this opera house, she staged Menotti's opera The Medium on the chamber stage in 2010 as a final exam. In the same year a performance of Giovanni Battista Pergolesi's La serva padrona followed with the Sinfonietta Vidin. As a playmate, she took care of international tour productions, which led her to Switzerland, Bulgaria and Germany. In 2011, she also assisted directing at the Theater Krefeld und Mönchengladbach. She has been working as a director and evening director at the Theater Krefeld und Mönchengladbach since the 2011-2012 season. In the 2013-2014 season, she has already directed Die Vier-Ton-Oper by Tom Johnson as a scholarship holder of the Opernstudio Niederrhein; during the 2016-2017 season she will work on The Consul by Gian Carlo Menotti as a director. |
