The Berliner Domkantorei is a supra-municipal amateur choir at the Berliner Dom (Berlin's Cathedral). Focus of their choral work asre the oratorios, passions and cantatas from Baroque to contemporary, and regular musical embodiment of Cathedral services with a cappella music.
The Berliner Domkantorei's journeys result in several regions of Germany and other European countries. The Director of the Choir since 2003 is Domkantor Tobias Brommann. He is supported by the six-member, elected by the choir Chorrat and Hanna Töpfer as an organizational staff member and manager of the office.
The choir makes music in different groupings:
The Oratorienchor consists of about 150 singers and performs annually 4-5 large works on. For participation in the Domgottesdiensten the choir is divided into partial choirs that sing in each 3 times.
The Kantatechor is a select choir of the oratorio choir and sings mainly J.S. Bach's cantatas in particular Cathedral services.
The - A-cappella-Chor works in 6-7 weekends on demanding and virtuosic choral music, which they performs in concerts and vespers at the Berliner Dom, outside Berlin and choir trips abroad.
The Schola performs in project related to sounded Gregorian chants in selected services and concerts.
The Kammerchor meets weekly, is busy small and developed programs with music for a cappella choir, which is one of the most demanding works of this genre.
The Chorrat was elected in June 2016 It consists of Gislind Heinecke, Frederike Schmidt (sopranos), Birgit Hottenbacher, Josefine Häßler (altost), Wilhelm Furian, Clemens Holzweißig (basses). |
