Luka den Boer (Baritone)

Born: March 12, 1998 - The Hague, the Netherlands

The Dutch baritone, Luka den Boer, had strong fascination and love for music at an early age. At age 6, he began taking accordion lessons. At school, singing was taken for granted, so his interest and love for classical singing blossomed. Currently (since July 2021), he is completing his classical vocal studies at Codarts Conservatory in Rotterdam with baritone Henk Neven. He received master-classes from Francine van der Heijden, Charlotte Riedijk, Marcel Reijans, Paul McNamara, Margreet Honig, Eva Maria Westbroek and Frank van Aken, among others. Later in life he took singing lessons with soprano Marjan Kuiper. He started his music career at the Music Teacher Training College in Leiden where he received singing lessons from tenor Bart Verhage.

With a great love for song, oratorio and opera, Luka den Boer's interest in singing solo repertoire is multifaceted. Music, text and acting have a connecting effect for him. Music as an art form for him is communication, inspiration and pleasure. He loves to show that on stage. He recently appeared in a new opera production of Opera Compact: The Fairy Queen, directed by Sybrand van der Werf, where last season at Codarts Rotterdam, he sang the role of Figaro in the production W.A. Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro.

Besides Opera, Luka den Boer has a great passion for the song repertoire. He sang at the Lied Festival Zeist, the 2024 season the LiedLab program 'Schweig Einmall Still!'. His concert repertoire includes: W.A. Mozart's Requiem, Krönungsmesse; Gabriel Fauré; Requiem; J.S. Bach's Matthäus-Passion BWV 244, Johannes-Passion BWV 245; Johannes Brahms' Ein Deutsches Requiem; Rossini's Petite messe solennelle; Puccini's Mesa di Gloria; George Frideric Handel's Messiah; J. Haydn's Jahreszeiten. He currently lives The Hague, the Netherlands.
