The American composer, performer (tenor), educator, and arts advocate, Joshua Bornfield, studied Music Academia: Composition at University of Minnesota Twin Cities (1997-2002); obtained his Master of Arts degree in Music Theory/Literature (Composition) from Eastern Michigan University (2005-2008); then studied at Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University (2009-2013).
Joshua Bornfield has taught 20th-century music theory and elective studies to undergraduate students at Adjunct Faculty of The Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, Maryland (since September 2012); he has also taught introductory music theory to non-music majors at Johns Hopkins University. Based in Baltimore, he has had works commissioned by organizations as varied as Washington National Opera and wildUp. He has won awards for his orchestral, choral, and chamber music.
Joshua Bornfield regularly performs with multiple choral and vocal ensembles such as critically acclaimed chamber ensemble Third Practice (since March 2014), Handel Choir of Baltimore, The Choir of St. David’s Church, Baltimore (since September 2015), and both NEXT and Peabody Renaissance Ensemble of the Peabody Institute. He directs the War Memorial Arts Initiative, an arts equity & advocacy program supported by Baltimore City’s Department of General Services (since December 2014); and serves as Board Secretary at Occasional Symphony in Baltimore (since May 2016). He currently lives in Baltimore, Maryland. |
