The German mezzo-soprano, Barbara Bräckelmann, was born in Darmstadt and grew up in Munich. At the age of 16 she took singing lessons with Professor Erika Zimmermann and became a member of the opera production studio of Professor Marie-Therese Gernot-Heindl. In the summer of 2001, she completed her singing studies with Professor Monika Bürgener at the Hochschule für Musik in Würzburg. She also took lessons from Christa Ludwig, Anna Reynolds, Professor Ingeborg Hallstein and Professor Sigune van Osten. She is a scholarship holder of the Richard Wagner-Verband Würzburg.
In her opera debut Barbara Bräckelmann performed the role of Prinzen Orlofsky in Fledermaus. In the 1999 and 2000 seasons she performed at the Theater in Altenburg und Gera. In the seasons 2000 and 2001 seasons she received her first engagement at the Theater Hof. From 2002 to 2008 she was an ensemble member at the Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern. Since 2011 she is a member of the Opernchor of the Städtischen Bühnen Münster. In addition to Orlofksy, her repertoire includes Agnes in Two Widows by Smetana, Nancy in Marta by Flotow, Farzana in Die Feen by Wagner, Zaida in Il turco in Italia by Rossini and Giacinta in La finta semplice by W.A. Mozart, 3rd Lady in the Die Zauberflöte by W.A. Mozart and Polina in Pique Dame by Peter I. Tchaikovsky.
Barbara Bräckelmann's varied concert activity has taken her to Portugal, Bayreuth, Berlin, Munich, Nuremberg, Münster, Göttingen, Solingen, Würzburg, Suhl and Kaiserslautern. |
