Kammer Sinfonie Bremen (Chamber Orchestra)

Founded: Bremen, Germany

Musicians from all over Germany lend the Kammer Sinfonie Bremen its distinctive artistic profile: their stylistically assured approach to musical literature from diverse eras, combined with a high degree of vibrant enthusiasm for playing, creates a captivating sound for the listener! The ensemble lives up to this special characteristic in both modern and historically informed performance practice.

Through the orchestra's project-oriented activities, it has made a significant impact on the musical landscape of Northern Germany, for example, with the "Komponistennächten" (Composers' Nights) broadcast live by Radio Bremen in Bremer Dom, which successfully showcased new concert formats. Over the past twenty-one years, the orchestra has toured extensively, including performances in France, Italy, the USA, and Japan.

The long-standing collaboration with the Bremer Domchor and the Alsfelder Vokalensemble (Director: Wolfgang Helbich) has yielded remarkable results for the ensemble, in addition to its symphonic work. Numerous CD recordings and radio broadcasts complement the orchestra's activities in an interesting way:

The new recording of Johannes Brahms' Requiem, participation in the "Sommerlichen Musiktagen 2000 in Hitzacker," the "Rheingau-Festival 2001," and the "Bremer Bachwochen" are impressive musical testimonies from the recent past. With its performance of Benjamin Britten's War Requiem on May 8, 2005, in Bremer Dom the orchestra contributed to the commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the end of the war.

Domkantor Dr. Tobias Gravenhorst has recently provided interesting impetus for the work with the orchestra, and the symphonic aspects have not been neglected. The continuation of the close musical collaboration at St.Petri Dom zu Bremen will continue to present a significant artistic challenge for the orchestra.

Concerto Bremen
A substantial part of the orchestra's activities involves playing on historical instruments: In the ensemble Concerto Bremen, the high motivation of the historically informed instrumentalists results in a vibrant and dynamic sound.
