The Camerata Leipzig chamber orchestra was formed in 1990.The desire of the conservatory educated, freelance musicians originally was to meet regularly to enjoy the endeavours of music making. Not only the concerts but also the weekly rehearsals have become important for the orchestra's existence. The musicians have developed the group to belong to the few non-commercial groups performing at a high professional level. Many orchestra musicians especially leading instrumentalists of the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig have played with as well as performed as soloist with them.
The orchestra's wide repertoire spanning from the 17th century to the 20th century, consist of concertos, cantatas, oratorios, symphonies... or simply the orchestra is open for all that the joys of music can bring. Thomas Reinhardt is the leader of the Camerata Leipzig chamber orchestra since 1990. |
