Oliver Chubb (Tenor, Trumpet)

Born: England

The English tenor singer and trumpet player, Oliver Chubb, began his singing career in the Portsmouth Cathedral Boys’ Choir and went on to study music at the University of Bristol, majoring in trumpet. In October 2022, he began studying singing at the Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber Dresden, where he is now studying with Lothar Odinius.

As a concert soloist, Oliver Chubb has sung for many ensembles and choirs in Germany and abroad, most recently in performances of H. Purcell’s The Fairy Queen, J.S. Bach's Johannes-Passion BWV 245, and Cantata Weinen, Klagen, Sorgen, Zagen BWV 12 with the Dresdner Kreuzchor. His current concert repertoire also includes J.S. Bach's Weihnachts-Oratorium BWV 248, Magnificat in D major BWV 243, Cantatas BWV 6, BWV 12, BWV 60, BWV 78, BWV 172, BWV 184, BWV 196, and BWV 198, George Frideric Handel's Acis & Galatea, G.F. Handel's Messiah, and W.A. Mozart's Requiem).

Oliver Chubb has also appeared in various operas. These include Nemorino in L’elisir d’amore (Bristol Opera), Christoph Probst in Die Weiße Rose (Staatsschauspiel Dresden, HfM Dresden) and Spoletta in Tosca (Opera in a Box). In the 2025-2026 season, he will sing the role of Tomaś in the opera Krabat at the Theater Görlitz. He has also sung in the choirs of several productions, most recently at the Landesbühnen Sachsen (C.M.v. Weber's Der Freischütz and R. Wagner's Der fliegende Holländer).

In the 2025-2026 season, Oliver Chubb is a tenor academician with the RIAS-Kammerchor Berlin (Director: Justin Doyle). He has also sung with many European choirs, including the Wells Cathedral Choir, Rundfunkchor Berlin (Director: Gijs Leenaars), KorMalta, AuditivVokal Dresden, and Dresdner Kammerchor (Director: Hans-Christoph Rademann). In his free time, he enjoys reading, jogging, and losing at chess.
