The American baritone, conductor, composer, arranger and music teacher, Andrew Dittman, obtained his Bachelor’s degrees in music and computer science and his Master of Music degree in Choral Conducting all from the University of North Texas.
Since 2013, Andrew Dittman has served as choirmaster for The Chapel of the Cross Reformed Episcopal Church (REC) in Dallas, Texas, and its parochial school, The Saint Timothy School. Along with his choirmaster duties, he co-directs the Saint Timothy string orchestra program with his wife, Ashley, and has also taught math, physics, computer science, logic, and physical education. He also has taught math, physics, and motor skills. He also served as Artistic Director for the Denton Bach Society (2019-2024).
Praised by the Dallas Morning News as “a handsome new baritone voice,” Andrew Dittman has sung professionally as a soloist and chorister with Dallas’ professional choral groups, including Orpheus Chamber Singers, Denton Bach Society, Dallas Bach Society (Director: James Richman), and Orchestra of New Spain.
Andrew Dittman composes and arranges music primarily for the church. His compositions and arrangements tends to cover the gamut of musical styles, incorporating elements from Renaissance and Baroque counterpoint, American folk songs and shape-note singing, Negro spirituals and gospel music, Dixieland, close harmony, big band jazz, and many other styles. His compostions and arrangements have been performed by choral and instrumental groups of all levels.
In his free time, Andrew Dittman also enjoys hiking, camping, indoor soccer, mountain biking, snow skiing, card/board games (which must require intellect), eating good food, and spending time with his lovely, ever patient wife, Ashley; their three children, John, James, and Catherine; and family and friends.
He and Ashley reside in Richardson, Texas with their four children, John, James, Catherine, and Lucy. |
