The English bass-baritone, Timothy Edlin, started his musical education as a chorister in Canterbury Cathedral before continuing his studies at the University of Manchester and then at the Royal College of Music in London. After his studies he became a member of the OpernStudio NRW in Germany.
On stage, Timothy Edlin has performed with numerous prestigious opera houses. Some of his repertoire to date includes; Achilla in George Frideric Handel's Giulio Cesare, La Rocca in G. Verdi's Un Giorno di Regno and the title role from Paisiello’s Il Re Teodoro in Venezia with Gelsenkirchen MiR; Il Sagrestano in Tosca with Oper Dortmund; Sprecher in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, Johann in Werther and Reinmar in R. Wagner's Tannhauser with Opera Wuppertal and also The Abbot in Benjamin Britten's Curlew River with Theater Aachen. Other houses with whom he has appeared include; Aalto Theater Essen, Oper Klagenfurt, Anhaltisches Theater Dessau, Oper Meiningen, Nevill Holt Opera and Stadttheater Bremerhaven (since June 2025).
As a concert, oratorio and Lieder singer, Timothy Edlin has performed as a soloist in numerous international venues with highlights including; alongside the London Handel Festival at the Wigmore Hall; as a featured soloist at the Royal Festival Hall in London; performing with the Handel & Haydn Society under Masaaki Suzuki at the Boston Symphony Hall in the USA; as part of the Salvat programme at the Palau de la Música in Barcelona; a featured soloist at the Philharmonie Essen as well as the Philharmonie Dortmund; performing the bass solos from W.A. Mozart's requiem with the King's College Choir Cambridge in Cambridge; also appearing broadcast on BBC Radio 3 and WDR 3. He is an active song and lieder singer, featuring previously as a recital artist with performances as part of the Deal Festival, the Lichfield Festival and the Three Palaces Festival in Malta. He currently lives in Canterbury, Kent. |
