The German baritone (and former tenor), Sven Erdmann, initially studied violin at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hannover, then switched to opera singing under Gerhard Faulstich, also at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hannover.
Even during his studies, Sven Erdmann had the opportunity to gain stage experience by singing smaller and medium-sized tenor roles at the Staatsoper Hannover. He had guest contracts there, for example, for the role of the Father in Kurt Weill's The Seven Deadly Sins and for Landolfo in Manfred Trojan's Enrico. Furthermore, he sang the role of Eurimaco in Monteverdi's Il ritorno d'Ulisse in patria under the musical direction of Reinhard Göbel. He was also heard as one of the Pharisees in Richard Strauss's Salome. He also worked at the Bremer Theater and the Allee-Theater Hamburg. He has since transitioned to the baritone repertoire.
Currently, his artistic focus is on oratorio singing. His repertoire ranges from the early Baroque to the modern era. |
