The American baritone, David Faircloth, obtained his Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in Music from Florida Atlantic University (1982-1984); and his Master of Music degree in Voice Performance
from The Catholic University of America (1986-1989).
David Faircloth is a baritone known for his versatility in operatic, oratorio and concert repertoire. He has appeared with the New York City Opera, Washington Bach Consort (Director: J. Reilly Lewis), Washington National Opera, Baltimore Opera, Cathedral Choral Society, among others, and spent three seasons in the Metropolitan Opera chorus. His work has been noted for its “rich, rangy, and intense singing” and “colorful and richly comic portrayals.”
David Faircloth then worked in radio as an announcer and producer at WETA in Washington, DC (September 1991-December 2005); and was Staff Announcer at WCPE Radio in Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill (November 2009-2011). He is an experienced leader in arts administration, team development, customer service, and cross-team collaboration and communication. In 2006, he returned to his native North Carolina and after several years of working for various churches in the area (Washington National Cathedral, Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, etc.), eventually began his association with Duke Chapel in 2017 as one of its staff singers. Currently, he serves as Program Coordinator for Duke Chapel Music at Program at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina (since August 2022). As program coordinator for Chapel Music, he is responsible for the logistics and financial operations of the Chapel’s concerts and music events, as well as for the Chapel’s resident ensembles and artists. He also appears regularly with Duke Chapel.
David Faircloth and his wife of more than thirty years share their home in Cary, North Carolina with their dogs Gomer (Border Collie) and Ellie (Pit Bull). |
