Madison Falkenstine (Soprano)

Born: August 27, 1997 - Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA

The American soprano and music teacher, Madison Falkenstine, began singing at the age of 13 when she played the role of Edna Turnblad in Hairspray (yes, the John Travolta role). She was hooked from that point on, and has since gone to study a variety of vocal styles, including Musical Theatre, Jazz, and Opera. She obtained her Bacelor of Music degree from the Metropolitan State University of Denver (Class of 2020), where she studied with Professor Gene Roberts; and her Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Colorado (Class of 2025). In 2018 she was awarded the Denver Lyric Opera Guild Scholarship, and in 2019 she was awarded the Beverly Fernauld Endowed Scholarship for Excellence in Voice.

Madison Falkenstine has been involved in Metropolitan State University Opera Theatre since 2017 in both Opera Scenes and Opera Main-stage. Her opera roles include: Manon in Massenet's Manon, Rosina in The Barber of Seville, and Duchess Carolina in Moreno Torroba's Luisa Fernanda, Ma in Missy Mazzoli’s Proving Up, and the Dew Fairy in Engelbert Humperdinck's Hänsel und Gretel. She has sung the soprano solos in the following masterworks: Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana (MSU Denver Festival Choir), George Frideric Handel's Gloria, Charpentier’s Messe de Minuit, and John Rutter’s Gloria, and Ralph Vaughan Williams' Dona Nobis Pacem (Montview Westminster Choir) in May of 2021. She has appeared with the Montview Westminster Choir, Colorado Springs Philharmonic, and Parish House Baroque Chamber Orchestra. Additionally, she premiered True Women of the West with Art Song Colorado, of which she was the curator and performer.

Madison Falkenstine began teaching theater, voice lessons, and dance with the Academy of Children’s Theatre in Colorado Springs & Academy of Community Theatre at the age of 18 (December 2016). She has been Teaching artist at Denver Center for the Performing Arts (since May 2025). She ran a successful voice studio in Colorado Springs before moving to Boulder, and has since seen her students flourish and land leading roles in well known theaters across Colorado. She is currently based in Denver, Colorado.
