The Canadian mezzo-soprano and choral conductor, Karen Frank, obtained her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Classical Piano and her Master of Arts degree in Musicology and Choral Conducting |(November 2022) from York University. She is also trained in dance. In September 2024, she moved to Boston, Massachusetts for a DMA in Choral Conducting at Boston University with Dr. Daniel Parsley.
Karen Frank is active as arts administrator, and conductor based in Ottawa and Toronto. She is a prominent figure in the Canadian choral scene, currently serving as both a performer and the General Manager of the Juno Award-winning Ottawa Bach Choir (Director: Lisette Canton). She is a long-standing member of the alto section. She has performed on the ensemble's critically acclaimed recordings, including J.S. Bach: Six Motets, and has appeared with the choir at prestigious international venues such as Carnegie Hall in New York and Bachfest Leipzig in Germany (June 2022). In her role as General Manager for the Ottawa Bach Choir, she manages social media, event planning, and creative writing. Her past experience includes serving as the arts administrator and co-founder of the New Blue Emerging Dance Works in Toronto. |
