The Engish mezzo-soprano, Stephanie Franklin, started after school studying Biochemistry, before realising that Music, and singing in particular, was what she wanted to do. She took a year out and moved to Berlin to learn German. obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from University of Oxford (First Class: 2017-2020). Activities and societies during this period: she has sung with Schola Cantorum of Oxford (Chair 2018-2019), Choral Scholarship with Oxford Bach Soloists (2018-2019), Choral Scholarship at The Queen's College (2017-2018), The Oxford Gargoyles (2017-2018), The Eglesfield Musical Society (Publicity Officer 2018-2019), Queen's College Netball (2018-2020); and regularly gave solo recitals. She continued her studies at King's College Oxford, where she obtained her Master's degree in Musicology with Distinction (2020-2021). Currently she studies for her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Musicology at University of Oxford (since 2020; expected graduatin: 2025), supported by Clarendon Scholarship. She was co-organiser of 'Rethinking Resistance' conference (Oxford, June 2022).
Since September 2021, Stephanie Franklin is active as a free-lance mezzo-soprano, performing, touring internationally, and recording with leading ensembles including The Sixteen (Director: Harry Christophers) and the BBC Singers (Director: Sofi Jeannin). |
