Audrey Gábor (Soprano)

Born: Sydney, Australia

The Australian-Hungarian soprano, Audrey Gábor, was born in Sydney where she completed her university studies and received a Bachelor of Music in Classical Voice / Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and Performance double degree the University of New South Wales. She continued her postgraduate studies in opera at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music (2012-2014) under the tutelage of Maree Ryan AM, Chair of Vocal and Opera Studies. During her time in Sydney, she debuted as Mercédès in Georges Bizet's Carmen in a gala concert version at the Sydney Opera House. Important roles include Susanna in W.A. Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro, Laetitia in Menotti's The Old Maid and the Thief, Amore in Gluck's Orfeo ed Euridice, Beth in Adamo's Little Women, Juno in Offenbach's Orphée aux enfers, La Paix in Campra's Tancrède and Ernestine Hill in Boyd's Daisy Bates at Ooldea. She was the inaugural recipient of the Hilda Mulligan M.B.E Singing Scholarship for Operatic Soprano and a two-time beneficiary of the Helpmann Family Fellowship for young artists.

Since then Audrey Gábor relocated to Hungary where she made her professional European debut at the Hungarian State Opera in Samu Gryllus' vocal theatre work, Two Women in the 2016-2017 season. Her debut was also featured on the official cast recording released by OperaTrezor as part of the Hungarian State Opera's 200th jubilee. In that same season, she sang her first Mimì in Puccini's La Bohème and appeared as Berta in Rossini's Il Barbiere di Siviglia with the Müvész Symphony Orchestra under the baton of György Gulyás Nagy. She remained a soloist as part of the State Opera's tour program until the 2019-2020 season.

As a freelancer, Audrey Gábor has enjoyed fulfilling collaborations with many ensembles in Budapest and regionally with the Szolnok, Alba Regia and Müvész Symphony Orchestras. Adding more roles to her repertoire with performances of Micaëla / Frasquita in Carmen, Cio-Cio-San in Madama Butterfly, Despina in W.A. Mozart's Così Fan Tutte, Serpina in Giovanni Battista Pergolesi's La Serva Padrona, Gilda in Rigoletto just to name a few. In 2022-2023 she became a featured artist with the Andrea Rost Foundation performing the role of the Countess in W.A. Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro with performances at the Solti Hall in Budapest and VeszprémFest. Last season, she received critical acclaim for her performance with the National Ballet of Györ in their premiere of Peer Gynt where she sang the role of Solveig. " ... Audrey Gábor is proud to be a founding member of the Hungarian classical ensemble Trio Laudor featuring László Kéringer (tenor) and Orsika Pataki-Tóth (guitar/soprano). On the concert platform, she has broadened her repertoire with performances of works by J.S. Bach: Mass in B minor BWV 232 and Coffee Cantata BWV 211.

This coming season, she will sing the role of Duemila in Katalin Szalai's new opera Interludi at the Chamber Opera Festival in Eger and is looking forward to performing several recital programs filled with music she loves.
