Christian Georg (Tenor)

Born: Berlin, Germany

The German tenor, Christian Georg, studied with Professor Reginaldo Pinheiro at the Musikhochschule Freiburg, where he obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in Singing (2010-2012), and his Master of Arts degree in Singing and Opera (2012-2014). For several years he has worked closely with the bel canto expert Peter Berne.

Christian Georg was part of the solo ensemble at the Oper Bonn from 2014 to 2019. There he performed roles such as Tamino in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, Rodolfo in Puccini's La Bohème, Alfredo in Verdi's La Traviata, Don Ottavio in W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni, Ferrando in W.A. Mozart's Così fan tutte, Rinuccio in Puccini's Gianni Schicchi and the Steuermann in Wagner's Der fliegende Holländer. At the Beethovenfest 2017 he sang the Carceriere in Luigi Dallapiccola's Il Prigioniero.

In the concert field, engagements with many major oratorio roles regularly take Christian Georg throughout Germany and to Switzerland. His repertoire includes J.S. Bach's Weihnachts-Oratorium BWV 248, Mass in B minor BWV 232 Matthäus-Passion BWV 244 and Johannes-Passion BWV 245; as well as George Frideric Handel's Messiah; W.A. Mozart's Requiem; L.v. Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 and Missa solemnis; Felix Mendelssohn's Elijah, Lobgesang and Walpurgisnacht; and Rossini's Petite Messe solennelle.

At the 2018 Good Friday concert of the Beethoven Orchester Bonn, Christian Georg was the soloist in Dvorak's Stabat Mater under GMD Dirk Kaftan. He also sang the solo part in Verdi's Requiem at Veronika Stoertzenbach's final concert with the Chor und Orchester der Universität Stuttgart in the Beethovensaal der Stuttgarter Liederhalle. Together with the Kinder- und Jugendchor der Bonner Oper, he performed Franz Schubert's Winterreise in a scenic-musical arrangement as "The Wanderer". At the 2013 Easter Festival in Baden-Baden, he was heard as Prince in Viardot's Cendrillon - accompanied by members of the Berliner Philharmoniker. In 2014, as a guest of the Stuttgarter Opernschule, he played den Zwerg in Zemlinsky's opera of the same name at the Wilhelma Theater. At the Festival di Musica d'insieme in Sessa Aurunca, Italy, he performed German and Italian Lieder as well as arias by Donizetti and Verdi in 2013 and 2019. Guest engagements have taken him to the Theater Dortmund und Essen (as Tamino), to the Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern, to the Theater Hagen and as Ernesto in Donizetti's Don Pasquale to the Theater Heidelberg. Since August 2022, he is also a member of NDR Vokalensemble.
