The Caanadian-born bartitone, Tiago Amado Gomes, began at the age of 10 his musical studies at the Choral Phydellius Conservatory of Music on Cello, and later in singing classes. He obtained his Bachelor of Music degree from the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa (2012-2015) as a student of Professor Sílvia Mateus, with whom he pursues his Master's Degree in Performance (December 2017). He attended master-class of Alexander Technique under the guidance of Crissman Taylor and several singing master-classes with Benjamin Appl, Jill Feldman, Gabriele Fontana, Christian Hilz and Susanne Rydén with whom he obtained the Extraordinary Music Talent 2015 prize and Best interpertation of a portuguese song in the 10th Singing competition by the Rotary Foundation (Melhor Interpretação de Canção Portuguesa | Bolsa de Estudo Nucase 2018) and 2nd Prize Maratona Opera XXI (2023).
Regarding Opera, Tiago Amado Gomes performed the following characters: Zareski in Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin, Op. 24, with the Orquestra do Norte under the direction of José Ferreira Lobo in Coliseu do Porto; Conde de Almaviva in W.A. Mozart's Les nozze de Figaro with the Metropolitan Orchestra under the direction of Pedro Amaral with staging of Jorge Vaz de Carvalho, at Centro Cultural de Belém; Don Giovanni in W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni with the ESML Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Vasco Azevedo and Artistic Direction with staging of Sílvia Mateus, in the Vianna da Motta Auditorium; Ben in G. C. Menotti's The telephone of and Marco in G. Puccini's Gianni Schicchi with the Gulbenkian Orchestra under the artistic direction of Yi-Chen Lin with staging of Claudio Desderi; Figaro in Beaumarchais, with Gulbenkian Orchestra and direction of Maestro Pedro Amaral and the Mala Voadora theater company staging by Jorge Andrade at the D. Maria II National Theater; Guglielmo in W.A. Mozart's Così fan Tutte with the ESML Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Vasco Azevedo and Artistic Direction with staging of Sílvia Mateus, at the Grand Auditorium of the Cultural Center of Belem; Guccio in G. Puccini's Gianni Schicchi with the Portuguese Chamber Orchestra and Deutsches Kammerorchester Berlin directed by Bruno Borralhinho at the CCB's Grand Auditorium. Mad King in Sir Peter Maxwell Davies' The Eight Songs for a Mad King, with the ClusterLab Orchestra directed of Carlos Marecos with staging of Sílvia Mateus.
In Oratorio field, Tiago Amado Gomes was soloist in Johannes Brahms' Ein Deutches Requiem Op.45 with ESML Symphony Orchestra with the direction of Vasco Azevedo; Gabriel Fauré's Mass Requiem Op. 48 with the Symphony Orchestra of the National Republican Guard with the direction of João Branco; J.S. Bach's Magnificat in D major BWV 243 with the ESML Orchestra with the direction of João Barros; J. Haydn's Paukenmesse with the ESML Symphony Orchestra with the direction of Paulo Lourenço; W.A. Mozart's Requiem with the Symphony Orchestra of the National Republican Guard with the direction of Maestro Jean-Sébastien Béreau; J.S. Bach's Missa brevis in A major, BWV 234 with the Metropolitan Orchestra under the guidance of Jean-Marc Burfin; Felix Mendelssohn's Elias Op. 70 and W.A. Mozart's Krönungsmesse in C Major KV 317, with the Academic Orchestra of the University of Lisbon with the direction of Tiago Oliveira.
Tiago Amado Gomes made the absolute debut of the works: Courage ... to follow the way of Daniel Davis, nominated for the Prize Authors SPA, in the Music category - Best music work; Baú das descobertas by of Daniel Davies and Sara Ross, a musical theater with staging of Linda Valadas and the organization of EGEAC (Castelo de São Jorge in Lisbon); Restart by Carlos Marecos / Miguel Torga.
Tiago Amado Gomes was soloist of the C.W. Gluck's Orfeo ed Euridice Ballet with the Masters Paulo Lourenço and Massimo Mazzeo, under the artistic guidance of Olga Roriz, in the Camões Theater. He often works in theater productions as the following: Interpretação by Tiago Rodrigues, presented at Culturgest (2013); in Primeira Geração at Teatro da Politécnica by Gonçalo Quirino (2015) and Karl Valentin Kabarett by Ricardo Neves-Neves (2017). He also performed with piano the entire Gustav Mahler's Rückert-Lieder, as well as Robert Schumann's Diechterlibe, Manuel de Falla's Siete canciones populares españolas and Fernando Lopes-Graça's Tiptíco de D. João no inferno, among others.
On the agenda agenda is scheduled to be Figaro in G. Rossini's The Barber of Seville by and in October 2018 Sergei Rachmaninov's Six Romances Op. 4 of with the Academic Orchestra of the Metropolitan of Lisbon under the artistic direction of the Master Jean-Marc Burfin.
Tiago Amado Gomes has been Professor of Voice at Improviso Academia de música (September 2018-June 2022) and at Escola de Música Michel Giacometti in Lisbon (since September 2017). He is a member of the European Network of Opera Academies and is part of the José Saramago Youth Ensemble . |
