The Dutch soprano singer and recorder player, music therapist and music pedagogue, Alice Gort-Switynk, studied classical singing with Caroline Stam and Francine van der Heijden and obtained her Bachelor of Music degree in Classical Singing from the SNVM in Amsterdam (2011-2016). At the Conservatorium in Enschede she studied since 1991 recorder with Marjolijn van Roon and graduated in 1996 (DM) and 1999 (UM). At the same time she studied music therapy and obtained her diploma (1994-1998). "Warm, calm, moving, clear, enchanting, expressive", are words that characterize her singing and playing. She received coaching and rehearsal for singing from: Rebecca Stewart, Marja Reijnders, Andrew Clark, Phyllis Ferwerda, Joost van der Linden and Johannette Zomer. She attended workshops and lessons for recorder with teachers such as: Marion Verbruggen, Bertho Driever, Ita Heijmans and Saskia Coolen.
With lutenist and guitarist Elly van Munster, Alice Gort-Switynk has formed the ensemble Rossignol for over 25 years. Other ensembles with which she has performed a lot are: duo Alicante with guitarist Nelleke Boosman and ensemble Orzo e Verde with organist Aarnoud de Groen. She is also regularly asked to be a soloist with choir and orchestra. She likes to sing the soprano solos in Cantatas, Masses, Oratorios, Passions, or Stabat Maters.
In addition to being a stage artist, Alice Gort-Switynk is an enthusiastic music pedagogue. She teaches children, young people and adults. She also has a lot of experience in leading recorder ensembles and singing groups. She is a registered music therapist in nursing and care, at 'Waardenburgh' in Leerdam and Bleskensgraaf. She currently lives in Leerdam, Utrecht, the Netherlands. |
