The Armenian soprano, Juliana Grigoryan (Джулиана Григорян), holds a Master’s from Yerevan State Conservatory and is a member of their Young Artist Opera Programme. She is the most recent winner of The Operalia World Opera Competition, as well as the audience prize. She also won the International Stanislaw Moniuszko Vocal Competition Grand Prize. She was the recent recipient of the Marcella Sembrich-Kochańska Prize for the youngest finalist and The Katowice City of Gardens - Krystyna Bochenek Cultural Institution Prize.
Juliana Grigoryan has performed with The Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra, The Armenian State Symphony Orchestra, and the National Chamber Orchestra of Armenia. In 2021, she performed J.S. Bach's Magnificat in D major BWV 243 with the National Chamber Orchestra of Armenia and the Yerevan State Chamber Choir. She sung L.v. Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 with the Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra, with whom she went on to tour the Czech Republic and Italy with. She finished off the 2021-2022 season with a role debut of Zemphira in Sergei Rachmaninov's Aleko with the Armenian National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet. In September 2021, she performed at a concert dedicated to the Independence of the Republic of Armenia which was held in Republic Square, Yerevan.
Juliana Grigoryan's 2022-2023 season included various house and role debuts. She performed with Dutch National Opera as Liu in Turandot, at Teatro alla Scala in Dvořák’s Rusalka, and as Mimi for Ravenna Festival’s La bohème. Juliana’s concert highlights have included performances in Basel, Budapest and Venice. She began the season with performances of Verdi Requiem in Ravenna with Riccardo Muti.
In the 2023-2024 season, Juliana Grigoryan looks forward to joining the Lindemann Young Artist Development Programme (LYADP), where she will have access to a vast scope of resources and training. During this time, Juliana looks forward to her Metropolitan Opera debut as Liu in Turandot. She will also have the opportunity to perform in concert in Barcelona for the Fundació Privada Victoria de los Ángeles; with the Prague Philharmonia alongside Piotr Beczala; and she returns to Ravenna Festival for a gala concert with Riccardo Muti. Later on in the season, she also returns to Dutch National Opera for a role debut as Lauretta in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi. |
