The German contralto, Regina Grönegreß, had completed her master's degree in Political Science and Sociology, before she turned to classical singing and found a home in church music. She was trained by Pamela Hamblin (Karlsruhe) and Professor Beata Heuer-Christen (Freiburg). Since then, she has received important impulses for her vocal development from Professor Thomas Heyer (Frankfurt).
Regina Grönegreß gained ensemble experience as a member of the Opernchor Ludwigshafen and as a freelancer in the SWR Vokalensemble Stuttgart. She is now an extremely sought-after oratorio singer. Concert tours took her to Poland, France, Switzerland and several times to Italy. She has performed as a soloist with, among others, Barockorchester L'arpa festante, Bach Collegium Zürich, Baltischen Philharmonie Danzig, Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi, Capella Istropolitana, Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana and Münchner Bach-Solisten. Her large oratorio repertoire, performed live, includes all the all major alto and mezzo-soprano roles from J.S. Bach's Weihnachts-Oratorium BWV 248 to G. Verdi's Requiem.
Regina Grönegreß recorded Jan Dismas Zelenka's Motetto pro Nativitate for alto and orchestra for Südwestrundfunk, as well as songs by Karl Friedrich Curschmann, a contemporary of Franz Schubert. Recordings from Radiotelevisione Italiana and Slovenian Radio document her concert activities. In 2018, in collaboration with SWR 2, the CD "Psalms" was released by CPO with premiere recordings of sacred works by Karlsruhe composers. In 2021, the label Antes released the CD "Mach, dass der Mai nie vergeht" with Baroque music for solo alto, recorder and continuo. In the field of Lieder, she has an intensive collaboration with the musicologist Dr. Joachim Draheim.
As a singing teacher, Regina Grönegreß teachs at the Musikschule der Stadt Ettlingen, Baden-Württemberg (since November 2018) and privately to a large number of students of all ages.
