The German soprano, Julia Sophie Hagenmüller, first studied music education and history at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt and at the Goethe-Universität Frankfurt. At the same time, she studied singing pedagogy with Professor Henriette Meyer-Ravenstein. After completing her studies in Frankfurt with the state examination and the diploma, she continued her education with a master's degree in singing in the class of Anja Paulus at the Robert Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf. The focus of her studies was in the field of Lieder and oratorio as well as ensemble singing. She received further important artistic impulses in master-classes with Dorothee Mields, Jörg Dürmüller, Simone Kermes and with the vocal ensemble Singer Pur, as well as through Lieder composition lessons with Hans Eijsackers.
Julia Hagenmüller gives concerts as a soloist, above all in Lied and oratorio. She sang J.S. Bach's Johannes-Passion (BWV 245) as part of the Bachakademie at the Musikfest Stuttgart under the baton of Hans-Christoph Rademann and the J.S. Bach's cantata Man singet mit Freuden vom Sieg (BWV 149) under the baton of Helmuth Rilling. She maintains a lively solo and chamber music concert activity in collaboration with various Baroque ensembles in the Düsseldorf area. She is also very interested in the interpretation of contemporary music. She sang in Cornelius Cardew's The Great Learning at the Alte Oper Frankfurt and was engaged for the premiere of the children's opera Die Schneekönigin at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein Düsseldorf/Duisburg. In addition, there are also some solo and ensemble pieces of new vocal music in her repertoire.
In addition to her solo work, Julia Hagenmüller is also very fond of singing in an ensemble. She took part in the Schola des Rundfunkchor Berlin under the direction of Sir Mark Elder and sang in the auxiliary choir of the WDR Rundfunkchor Köln under the direction of Jukka-Pekka Saraste, as well as in the Kammerchor Stuttgart (Director: Frieder Bernius), Vocalensemble Rastatt (Director: Holger Speck) and Chorus Musicus Köln (Director: Christoph Spering). In the 2017-2018 season, she was a guest in the im Opernchor der Oper Wuppertal. She is co-founder of the Rheinstimme ensemble, a vocal octet in Düsseldorf specializing in the performance of early and contemporary music. In autumn 2019 the Rheinstimme ensemble made its debut at the Oper Köln in the German premiere of Hamlet by Brett Dean.
In addition, Julia Hagenmüller works as a singing teacher and choir voice trainer. |
