The American tenor, Mark Hanke, attended New York University for 2 years (2008-2010) before transferring and completing his Bachelor of Music degree in Classical at Manhattan School of Music in New York (2010-2012). He was Choral Scholar at Oratorio Society of New York (2010-2015).
A strong advocate of educational outreach, Mark Hanke is the founder, producer, librettist, and performer of Opera-Tunity, a children’s opera company creating original operas that are fully integrated into the school curriculum (September 2014-September 2017). In addition, he has participated in the Carnegie Hall Educational Outreach Program (2012), working with High School students throughout New York City performing La Pasión según San Marco. In addition, he has performed with the Manhattan School of Music/Amato Opera Educational Outreach bringing W.A. Mozart's opera The Magic Flute to various schools in New York City. He has also worked alongside composer Debbie Teason in a music therapy/outreach setting developing, composing, and performing a short opera with special needs children in Connecticut.
Mark Hanke has been Assistant Orchestra Contractor at Papal Visit to New York (July-October 2015); Choral Contractor/Administrative Director at Venture (NY) Chorus in Juilliard (December 2015-March 2016); Choral Program Assistant/Tenor Soloist at Amherst Early Music Festival (since June 2016); Tenor Section Leader/Tenor Soloist at St. Luke's Lutheran Church of Times Square (since September 2012); Music Instructor at Washington Heights Choir School (since September 2017); Executive Director at Musica Sacra of New York, Inc. (since January 2018). He currently lives in New York City, New York. |
