The German bass, Christof [Christoph] Hartkopf, started his career as a singer in the Regensburger Domspatzen. After graduation, he gained the scholarship of the Richard Wagner Foundation, received singing lessons with Ilse Hagen in Munich and then studied at the Hochschule der Künste in Berlin in the singing class of Anke Eggers and the Lied class of Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau. As a member of the vocal sextet "Singer Pur", he collaborated with the Hilliard Ensemble and others.
Later Christof Hartkopf belonged to the RIAS-Kammerchor and has performed as soloist with the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin and with the Deutschen Symphonie Orchester Berlin, among others. His performance as Messenger in George Frideric Handel's Belshazzar with the Berliner Philharmoniker, was rated by the critics as "excellent". Since September 2004 he is member of the Chor des Bayerischen Rundfunks. |
