The American soprano, Caroline Helton, DMA, is a graduate of the University of Michigan, where she studied with Freda Herseth, Fredric Moses, Joshua Major, George Shirley and Martin Katz. She received her master's and bachelor's degrees (with honors) in voice performance from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
As a soprano, Caroline Helton has performed in a number of operas and operettas, and has participated in master classes in USA and abroad.
In 1990 Caroline Helton joined the faculty of Music at the University of Michigan. From 1995 to 1998, as a graduate student instructor at the Universituy of Michigan, Caroline Helton taught applied voice lessons to music theater majors as well as non-voice and non-music majors. In addition to her teaching of applied voice lessons, she has taught classes in English, Italian, German and French diction, survey classes of the body of art song literature from the Baroque to the present, an art, music, and theater appreciation survey course, and classes in choral music. |
