The Spanish tenor, David Hernández Anfruns, studied at Maristes Sants- Les Corts and at Salesians de Sarrià, both in Barcelona. He studied violin and singing at Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya in Barcelona (Class of 2009 ). Once finished, he moved to Geneva where he did a master's degree in interpretation of the song at the Haute École de Musique (Class of 2011).
David Hernández is a freelance tenor since 2000. As a soloist, he has participated in major festivals such as Utrecht, Amsterdam, Innsbruck, Stockholm, Zürich, Geneva, Ambronay, Herne, Kloster-Eberbach, Seville, Granada, Barcelona ... He has also sung in renowned venues such as the Auditorium the Palau de la Música in Barcelona, the Salle Gaveau in Paris, the Victoria Hall in Geneva, and the opera houses like Lausanne, Vichy, Bourg en Bresse, Besançon, Toulon and the Liceu in Barcelona.
His repertoire focuses mainly on the Baroque, but also participates in projects with symphonic orchestras singing Dvórak, Benjamin Britten, W.A. Mozart, Franck Martin, Igor Stravinsky, Pablo Casals, Berlioz among others. He also performs recitals by Lied for the suitability of his vocal timbre and his careful diction, among the most performed composers are Gabriel Fauré, Robert Schumann, Schubert, Benjamin Britten ...
Working with internationally renowned directors, he has achieved great musical riches and knowledge of the different styles he plays: Gabriel Garrido, Frieder Bernius, Patrick Cohën-Akenine, Manel Valdivieso, Salvador Mas, Leonardo García-Alarcón, Martin Gester, Jordi Savall, Philippe Herreweghe, Ton Koopman, Federico Sepúlveda, Gábor Takacs-Nagy, David Bates ...
He has recorded for Radio France, Sony, Radio Suisse Romande and K-617. He recorded his first solo album by George Frideric Handel with the 'Orquestra Barroca de Granada and Dario Moreno. Later he recorded Ashenbrödel by Franck Martin, where he participated with a leading role (world premiere of Claves Records) with record recognition of 5 by Diapason.
Aside from his solo work, he regularly participates in vocal ensembles of small format such as Elyma, Collegium Vocale Gent (Director: Philippe Herreweghe), Cappella Mediterranea (Director: Leonardo García-Alarcón), La Capella Reial de Catalunya (Director: Jordi Savall), Gli Angeli Genève (Director: Stephan MacLeod), Akadêmia Ensemble (Director: Françoise Lasserre), Ensemble Pygmalion (Director: Raphaël Pichon), Coronato Canto, La Grand Chapelle, Musica Fiorita (Director: Daniela Dolci) or Cetra and combines his interpretative facet with pedagogy, as a singing teacher. Since 2006, he is a choir teacher at the Choir Jove of the Orfeó Català. He currently lives in Barcelona, Spain. |
