Jakob Hoffmann (Baritone)

Born: 1995 - Munich, Bavaria, Germany

The German baritone, Jakob Hoffmann, after his initial lessons with Florian Dengler, began his bachelor's degree in singing with Andreas Macco at the Universität Mozarteum Salzburg in October 2014 and has already taken part in several productions of the Departments für Oper und Musiktheater. In 2019, he began his master's degree in opera and music theater at the Universität Mozarteum Salzburg in the opera class of Kai Röhrig and Karoline Gruber / Rosamund Gilmore, as well as in the singing class of Andreas Macco, which he completed in 2022.

Since the beginning of his master's degree, Jakob Hoffmann has already appeared on stage in several opera productions. For example, in the roles of Acamante in N. Jommelli's opera La Critica, the Film Director in Péter Eötvös's opera Radames (2020, directed by Christian Poewe), Seikyo in Tan Dun's Tea: A Mirror of Soul by (2020, directed by Wolf Widder), Papageno in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte (2021, directed by Alexandra Szemerédy and Magdolna Parditka), Jupiter in Jacques Offenbach's Orpheus in the Underworld (2021, directed by Rosamund Gilmore), and in the role of Cavaliere Astolfi in Ermanno Wolf-Ferrari's Il Campiello (2022, directed by Rosamund Gilmore). In the winter semester of 2022 he began the Master's degree in Lied and Oratorio with Stephan Genz and Andreas Schmidt.

His engagements have already taken him through Germany, Switzerland, Italy and Austria, including with the ensemble BachWerkVokal Salzburg (Director: Gordon Safari), of which he has been a member since 2019. Jakob Hoffmann is a prize-winner of the Internationaler Haydn-Gesangswettbewerb für Klassisches Lied und Arie in Rohrau in June 2023, and was also delighted to receive two special prizes: the Baden Stage Special Prize and the special prize for the best Lied interpretation. He became a permanent ensemble member of the Eduard-von-Winterstein-Theaters in Annaberg-Buchholz from the 2023-2024 season.
