The Italiand soprano, Caterina Iora, graduated in Opera Singing with Margaret Hayward at the Milan Conservatory; and earned a master's degree with honours with Luciano Pavarotti; then studied with Luciana Serra and Dante Mazzola (Classical and Romantic repertoire) and with Roberta Invernizzi (Baroque repertoire).
Caterina Iora regularly works with notable ensembles such as I Barocchisti (Director: Diego Fasolis), Cameristi del Teatro alla Scala Chamber orchestra, Ghislieri Choir and Consort, La Barocca, Canto di Orfeo, Ensemble, Cappella Mauriziana, Monteverdi di Cremona, Solisti della Svizzera Italiana, under the baton of Giovanni Antonini, Ottavio Dantone, Diego Fasolis, Gianluca Capuano, Ruben Jais, Alfredo Bernardini, Giulio Prandi, Marco Mencoboni, Marco Testori, Giulio Mercati, Bruno Gini, Mario Valsecchi...
Caterina Iora performed numerous concerts both in Italy and abroad, being featured in the musical seasons of Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Berliner Philarmonie, Esterhazy palace in Eisenstadt, MiTo Settembre Musica, Martina Franca Festival, LaVerdi Barocca in Milan, Enescu Festival, Malta Festival , Festival de La Chaise-Dieu, Festival de Sablé, Festival Pergolesi di Jesi, Opera d'Avignon et Rouen, Ambronay Festival, Utrecht Early Music Festival, Göttingen International Handel Festival, Opèra di Lyon, Antwerpen Singel Festival... Before devoting herself to Baroque music, she sang in some of most important chorus of the italian opera houses (Teatro Alla Scala in Milan, Teatro Regio in Turin, Teatro Regio in Parma, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino...).
Caterina Iora recorded with Ghislieri Choir and Consort on Sony Deutsche Harmonia Mundi label and with I Barocchisti on Erato label (soloist in CD "La storia di Orfeo" with Philippe Jaroussky). She currently lives in Milan, Italy. |
