The American soprano, Katelyn Grace Jackson (née Aungst), grew up in Berks County, Pennsylvania and has spent a good portion of her singing career in Washington, D.C. She grew up singing in the Berks Youth Chorus, taking piano and dance lessons, listening to Sergei Rachmaninov, Howard Hansen and Samuel Barber, and attending countless church picnics to hear her mother play the flute with Ringgold Band. Despite being surrounded by music, her first loves were reading and writing, and she dreamt of becoming a novelist and poet. This early exposure to music ranging from the art music canon to John Philip Sousa Americana, a deep love for the written word and a knack for choral singing led to a professional career as a soloist and chamber musician propelled by a desire to connect and communicate with other musicians and audience members alike.
Katelyn Grace Jackson, obtained her Bachelor of Music Education degree from University of Maryland (2006-2010). She has been Music Teacher at Montgomery County Public Schools in Rockville, Maryland (August 2011-June 2017). She obtained her Master of Music degree in Historical Performance: Voice from The Peabody Institute of The Johns Hopkins University (2017-2019); and after her studies has worked as Assistant Director of Scholarship Administration and Stewardship at University of Maryland (since August 2021).
Hailed by the Washington Post for her “supple, haunting soprano,” Katelyn Grace Jackson performs as a featured soloist and chorister with intelligence and “particular purity of tone” (San Francisco Classical Voice). She has soloed with the American Bach Soloists, Washington Bach Consort, Nashville Symphony Orchestra, City Choir of Washington, Cathedral Choral Society, Washington Master Chorale, Bach Choir of Bethlehem, Handel Choir of Baltimore, and Peabody Symphony Orchestra. Her choral and chamber experiences boast recording Dame Ethel Smyth's The Prison with the Experiential Orchestra & Chorus (2021 GRAMMY Award for Best Classical Solo Vocal Album), and performances with The Thirteen, Clarion Music Society, Third Practice, Ensemble Altera, and Three Notch’d Road. She has also been Soprano in Christ Church Georgetown (August 2013-September 2021); and Singer in Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington (September 2021-October 2022).
