The Japanes soprano, Asami Kano [Japanese: 狩野 麻実], graduated from the Music Arts Course of the Lifelong Learning Program, Faculty of Education, Shimane University, and completed her graduate studies at the same university. She studied vocal music under Emiko Katsube, the late Shigeyuki Mihara, Isao Yoshida, and Naoki Sasaki.
Asami Kano has performed as a soprano soloist in church cantatas and numerous masses by J.S. Bach, Orff's Carmina Burana, Gabriel Fauré's Requiem, and L.v. Beethoven's Symphony No. 9. She has appeared in the Puraba New Year Opera Concert and the Matsue 400th Anniversary Opera The Rainbow Bridge. In September 2016, she won 2nd prize and a special jury prize in the general division of the 4th Tokyo International Vocal Competition. She is a member of the Matsue Citizens' Choir, Opera Group San, and Matsue Bach Cantata Verein. Currently, she is a specially appointed lecturer at the Faculty of Education, Shimane University, and a part-time lecturer at Tottori Prefectural Hino High School. |
