Paul Kieviet (Organ, Tenor) |
Born: 1964 - The Netherlands |
The Dutch organist and tenor, Paul Kieviet, studied at the Rotterdams Conservatorium: Organ (Musician Teacher and Performing Musician) with Arie J. Keijzer and Bernard Winsemius; Church Music with Barend Schuurman; and Music Theory with Jan Kleinbussink, Peter-Jan Wagemans and Ludwig Otten.
Since 1984 Paul Kieviet has been the permanent player of the Meere organ (1821) in the Hervormde Kerk in Sommelsdijk, and since 1990 of the Leeflang organ (1952) in the Hervormde Kerk in Middelharnis. He built up an extensive and flourishing teaching practice around these two organs. As a teacher of music theory he is affiliated with the Goeree-Overflakkee Music School.
In 1985 Paul Kieviet won the Nationaal Orgelconcours in the Hooglandse Kerk in Leiden. He studied improvisation with Arie J. Keijzer and at the International Summer Academy in Haarlem with Klaas Bolt. He has performed on the radio, on CD and in many places in our country. He is also active as a composer and improviser. The common thread through all facets of his work is formed by an intensive involvement with and a personal connection with the organ art of J.S. Bach. He recently gave his 70th J.S. Bach concert. |
