Jaro Kirchgeßner (Counter-tenor)

Born: May 5, 1997 - Neustadt an der Aisch, Middle Franconia, Bavaria, Germany

The German counter-tenor, Jaro Kirchgeßsner, has been singing since he was a child; and became at age 9 a member of the Windsbacher Knabenchor, in which he received his basic musical training and was already a regular soloist. Immediately after his voice broke, he noticed that his voice was well suited to the counter-tenor subject and started practicing it. Since then he spent a year at the Berufsfachschule für Musik in Dinkelsbühl with Birgit Ströbel-König and is now in his fourth year studying with Professor Hartmut Zabel at the Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber Dresden.

In addition to his studies, Jaro Kirchgessner sings in well-known choirs such as Sonat Vox, the Dresdner Kammerchor (Director: Hans-Christoph Rademann) and the Sächsischem Vocalensemble and regularly takes on solo roles. He gave concerts at the Würzburger Bachtage under Christian Kabitz and with the well-known Capella de la Torre. He has already gained opera experience in university productions of Leonce und Lena (Kurt Schwaen) and in George Frideric Handel's Alcina (Ruggiero). In May-June, 2022, he sang the the role of Oberon in Benjamin Britten's Midsummer Night's Dream, a production by the Leipziger Musikhochschule. He can also be heard as a soloist on the CD “Staden Motetten” by the Windsbacher Knabenchor and on the CD “Lasst uns lauschen” by Sonat Vox. In addition to classical music, he enjoys playing the drum set and guitar, and he is particularly interested in the modern rock and metal scene. He currently lives in Essingen, Luxembourg, Luxembourg.
