Wiebke Kretzschmar (Contralto)

Born: Germany

The German contralto, Wiebke Kretzschmar, studied classical singing in Dresden and now lives and works as freelance singer in Berlin. She works with various ensembles in the concert area and sings in opera projects. She is a member of Gächinger Kantorei Stuttgart (Directors: Helmuth Rilling & Hans-Christoph Rademann).

The ensemble "Die Feinsliebchen" was created in 2005, when the soprano Gesine Novakowski and Wiebke Kretzschmar's common wish to play folk songs and duets at ease was heard by pianist Ilja Köster. Meanwhile, in various concert programs they are dedicated both to the classical duet literature of, inclding works by Johannes Brahms, Robert Schumann and Felix Mendelssohn, as well as lesser known works for this cast of by composers as Benjamin Britten, Ibert or Niels Wilhelm Gade.
