The Italian baritone, Patrizio La Placa, received his first musical training as a puer cantor of the Cappella Musicale Pontificia Sistina and then of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia under the direction of José Maria Sciutto, he graduated with top marks and honors from the "Conservatorio "S. Cecilia" di Roma, first in the Three-Year Advanced Course in Operatic Singing, then in the Two-Year Course in Baroque Singing under the guidance of Sara Mingardo. In 2018 he was a student at the Accademia del Belcanto "Rodolfo Celletti" in Martina Franca (June-July 2018), where he perfected himself with musicians such as Fabio Luisi, Richard Bonynge, Claudio Santoro, Vittorio Terranova, Stefania Bonfadelli, Renata Lamanda, deepening his study of vocal technique thanks to the lessons of Sherman Lowe. A student of the Advanced Course for Opera Singers at the Accademia del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino (November 2018-June 2019), he took part in lessons and master-classes with the maestros Bruno De Simone, Sonia Ganassi, Jessica Pratt, Chris Merrit, Giacomo Prestia.
Patrizio La Placa collaborates with the Cappella Musicale Sistina with which he has recorded several albums for the Deutsche Grammophon label. As a soloist he made his debut in Il barbiere di Siviglia by Giovanni Paisiello under the direction of Fabio Biondi at the Teatro Flavio Vespasiano in Rieti. At the 2018 Festival della Valle d’Itria he played the role of Capitan Rodimarte in Alessandro Scarlatti's opera buffa Il trionfo dell’onore which repeated at the Teatro del Giglio SHOWA in Kanagawa for the Belcanto Opera Festival in Japan. At the Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza he played the role of Darete in the world premiere in modern times of the opera Polidoro by Antonio Lotti under the direction of Francesco Erle. At the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino he debuted several roles including that of Moralès in Georges Bizet's Carmen conducted by Matteo Beltrami and directed by Leo Muscato; Henri Martel in Offenbach’s opera Un marì a la porte conducted by Valerio Galli and directed by Ugo Giacomazzi and Luigi Di Gangi; Fiorello in Rossini's Il barbiere di Siviglia conducted by Michele Gamba and directed by Daniele Michieletto; Antonio in W.A. Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro conducted by Kristiina Poska and directed by Sonia Bergamasco.
In the 2018 edition of the Festival della Valle d'Itria Patrizio La Placa played the role of Frangipani in the first Italian version of Offenbach's opera Coscoletto, o il lazzarone conducted by Sesto Quatrini. He returned to the Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza in September 2020 as Clistene in Vivaldi's L'Olimpiade conducted by Francesco Erle and directed by Bepi Morassi and in August 2021 as Achior in W.A. Mozart's oratorio La Betulia liberata conducted by Marco Comin. In October 2021 he played the role of Uberto in Giovanni Battista Pergolesi's La serva padrona, conducted by Angelo Michele Errico, at the Sala Baldini in Rome. In November 2021, he debuted the role of Leporello in W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni at the Teatro Duse in Bologna conducted by Tommaso Ussardi and directed by Giovanni Dispenza. In January 2022, he played Lo Schiavo in the production of Licinio Refice's Cecilia at the Teatro Lirico in Cagliari conducted by Giuseppe Grazioli and directed by Leo Muscato, while in February he sang at the Teatro Verdi in Pisa in George Frideric Handel's Giulio Cesare conducted by Carlo Ipata and directed by Matteo Mazzoni. In March 2022, he played the role of Leporello again at the Teatro Comunale in Carpi conducted by Angelo Gabrielli and directed by Alessandro Bertolotti.
In September 2022, Patrizio La Placa was Strabo in Giuseppe Sellitti's intermezzo La vedova ingegnosa, staged by the Laboratorio per l'Opera Barocca di Barocco Europeo. Always with the Cenacolo Musicale he recorded the Cantatas for Bass, Strings and Continuo by Alessandro Stradella and Alessandro Scarlatti. In February 2023 he made his debut as a bass soloist in W.A. Mozart's Mass in C minor, at the Santa Cecilia dell’Auditorium Parco della Musica, under the direction of Maestro M. Honeck. In October he had the opportunity to debut at the Teatro Piccolo Regio in Turin, again in the role of Martel in Offenbach’s Un marì a la porte and at the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome, with G.F. Handel's Giulio Cesare, in the role of Curio (conductor Rinaldo Alessandrini, director D. Michieletto).
In 2023 Patrizio La Placa was the winner of the competition at the Coro dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia. In September 2024 he was the protagonist of the new production of the cantatas for Bass by J.S. Bach with Cenacolo Musicale, soon to be published on the You Tube channel Barocco Europeo/Cenacolo Musicale.
