The French conductor, organist and tenor, Julien Laloux, was attracted by music very early on, and sought versatility from the outset. He studied the piano, the transverse flute, singing and organ - class of Jean-François Vaucher - and obtained a diploma for this instrument and a first prize for virtuosity. At the same time, he developed a passion for conducting - obtained also his diploma, then his studies are crowned by a master's degree in choir conducting - class of Michel Corboz. He then sang at the Ensemble Vocal de Lausanne (EVL) and asttended orchestrta conducting master-classes orchestra with Yuri Ahronovitch and Roberto Benzi. Beautiful and important meetings - Daniel Roth, Ton Koopman - mark out his career.
Since 1998, Julien Laloux has regularly given concerts as a soloist, accompanist and conductor. In 2003, he had the chance to give his first concert with the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne (OCL) at the Salle Métropole in Lausanne in Donizetti's Missa di Gloria and Credo. He was called upon to conduct, among others, the Ensemble Baroque du Léman, Kazan Chamber Orchestra, Sinfonietta de Lausanne and Die Freitagsakademie (Bern). In 2007, after Athalie by Felix Mendelssohn with the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne, he reduced his activities as an organist to a few recitals and concerts - in Switzerland, France and Germany - and is mainly dedicated to the preparation of choirs and conducting.
Guest at the Festival Bach de Lausanne in 2009 for a program entitled "Du profane au sacré chez Bach and Telemann", he returned to the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne the following year for a new concert: Felix Mendelssohn and Robert Schumann, as well creation of Jacques Henry's Rêves In the field of the stage, after a great staging experience, Évocations tziganes, he staged Le Postillon by Lonjumeau d´Adam twice and prepared the choir for Orfeo ed Euridice by Gluck in 2011. Then, the following year, a beautiful spiritual journey titled Mendelssohn – une rédemption allowed him to conduct the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne again.
From that moment on, his various activities converged and Julien Laloux gave them a more precise meaning: they are now brought together under a common evocative name: Liens harmoniques (since 2012); he also created closer contacts with listeners and produced two flashmobs in 2013 and 2016. Large projects are then born, sometimes original in the form (entries with flowers, with candles, while singing…) or on the basis of the program. He is passionate about rarely performed works, alternating with the great works of the repertoire.
At Lausanne Cathedral, Julien Laloux conducted several W.A. Mozart concerts: Requiem, Great Mass in C minor, Linz Symphony. In 2014, he was the head of the Sinfonietta in Lausanne and one hundred and ten choristers for a program of rarely performed romantic works entitled "Impétueux destinies". He has been invited twice by the Les Concerts J.S. Bach de Lutry and the Romainmôtier with the Baroque ensemble Die Freitagsakademie in J.S. Bach's Cantatas for Avent and Johannes-Passion (BWV 245). This last work was given back to Bern in 2016, as part of Swiss refugee aid. In 2018, he conducted the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne for a new work in Lausanne, Die letzten Dinge by Spohr. He sang as a tenor at theAcadémie Bach de Porrentruy (Director: Michael Radulescu) and it was in this city that he created the Ensemble Alternances with solo sopranos Carlyn Monnin and Camille Chappuis in 2015. He conducts the Ensemble vocal Arpège, the Chœur HEP and the Chœur de chambre HEP (since August 2001).
As a tireless explorer of both the vocal and instrumental worlds, Julien Laloux shares with the public the grace of ever-renewed musical moments. Rich in the experience acquired during concerts as well as his fruitful meetings Ton Koopman, Michael Radulescu and Michel Corboz, Julien Laloux likes to arouse emotion and transmit it. He currenly lives in Lutry, Switzerland. |
