The French-born baritone singer and music teacher, Mathieu Lanniel, initially studied biology and then voice in Lyon, where he earned his master's degree in 2011. He has recevied Classical vocal training with B. Schranner since 2008. Following this, he participated in the City Lit Opera course in London, studying with conductor Peter Crockford and singer Carol Gibb (2010-2013).
Mathieu Lanniel then joined the Magdala Opera Chorus (Nottingham) under the direction of Michelle Wegwart, where he sang the following roles: Belcore in Gaetano Donizetti's L'elisir d'amore with Midland Opera; Title role in Arthur Sullivan's operetta The Mikado. Since 2015, he has been a member of the Extrachor der Bayerischen Staatsoper Staatsoper in Munich; and since 2019, he has been member of the Extrachor des Staatstheaters am Gärtnerplatz. He also performs as a soloist at the Kirche Maria vom Guten Rat in Schwabing and at Kirche St. Paulus in Altperlach. Since 2017, he has been a soloist at the Isny Opera Festival. In October 2025, he sang Gabriel Fauré's Requiem conducted by Thomas Pfeiffer in Glonn, Germany; in March 2025 and March 2024, J.S. Bach's Johannes-Passion BWV 245 conducted by Yoko Seidel in Munich.
Mathieu Lanniel's areas of focus and interest: Vocal Training, Breathing Technique, Musical Interpretation, Joy of Singing. He has been working at the Münchner Volkshochschule (MVHS) since 2020 and is a lecturer in the field of music. For him, the MVHS is a place of encounter where, in beautiful facilities, one can impart a broad range of knowledge to interested people. |
