The Cuban-American tenor, Fran Daniel Laucerica, obtained his Bachelor of Music degre in Voice and Opera Performance from Northwestern University (2013-2017), where he was a member of Bienen Contemprary/Early Vocal Ensemble; and his Master of Music degree in in Opera Performance from Boston Conservatory at Berklee (2018-2020). He is an alumnus of several esteemed young artist programs including Pittsburgh Opera, The Glimmerglass Festival, Virginia Opera, and Wolf Trap Opera. He is the recipient of an Encouragement Award from the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition and won 3rd Prize in the 2023 Handel Aria Competition.
Durig his studies, Fran Daniel Laucerica was Bassist/Praise Singer at First Baptist Church of Cutler Ridge (June 2011-September 2013); Opera Apprentice at Miami Summer Music Festival - Opera Institute (June-August 2015); Event Assistant at Alice Millar Chapel in Evanston, Illinois (January 2015-June 2016); Tenor Section Leader/Soloist at First Presbyterian Church of Lake Forest (September 2015-June 2016); Executive Music Director of Freshman Fifteen A Cappella at Northwestern University (Sep 2015 - Jun 2016); High Holidays Choir at Congregation Kol Emeth Skokie, Illinois (August-September 2016); Summer Music Theater Program Assistant at North End Music & Performing Arts Center (NEMPAC) in Boston, Massachusetts (July-August 2019).
Fran Daniel Laucerica has been praised for his clarity, agility, and musical versatility on the operatic and concert stages. His performances showcase his “sweetly shining tenor” and “heroic vocal intensity,” as noted by Opera Today and Pittsburgh Quarterly, respectively. Recent operatic highlights featured him as Il Conte d'Almaviva in Il barbiere di Siviglia with Pittsburgh Opera and First Coast Opera, Beppe in Pagliacci with The Glimmerglass Festival and Pittsburgh Opera, and Rinaldo in Rossini's Armida with Pittsburgh Opera. He also covered Goro in Madama Butterfly with Pittsburgh Opera and Adolfo Pirelli in Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd with Wolf Trap Opera.
As a concert soloist, Fran Daniel Laucerica has showcased his versatility in a range of works, including performances of J.S. Bach's Weihnachts-Oratorium BWV 248 and Matthäus-Passion BWV 244 with Madison Bach Musicians, Orff's Carmina Burana with the Lexington Symphony, and George Frideric Handel's Messiah with the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra. A passionate advocate of new music, the artist has premiered works by such notable composers as Samuel Carl Adams with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra's MusicNOW Initiative and David Lang with the Bienen Contemporary Vocal Ensemble.
In the 2025 season, Fran Daniel Laucerica made several role and company debuts. At Opera Philadelphia he was heard as Don Lugino in Rossini’s Il viaggio a Reims and covered Conte di Libenskof and Chevalier Belfiore, joined Pittsburgh Opera as Thomas for the premiere of Woman With Eyes Closed, and Washington Concert Opera proudly presented him as Pylade in Iphigénie en Tauride. He is also a 2025-2026 Emerging Artist with Opera Philadelphia. In concert, he sang J.S. Bach's Mass in B minor BWV 232 with the Austin Philharmonie, Madison Bach Musicians, and the Conejo Valley Choral Society.
Upcoming engagements include Florville in Il Signor Bruschino and the Jazz Trio Tenor in Leonard Bernstein's Trouble in Tahiti with Amelia Island Opera, Elder Hayes in Carlisle Floyd's Susannah with Opera Omaha, Nanki-Poo in The Mikado with First Coast Opera, and covering the role of The Stranger in Sleepers Awake with Opera Philadelphia. Since June 2013 he has also been private voice teacher. |
