The Korean tenor, Isaak Lee (birth name: Keunhyung Lee), completed his studies in vocal music at Seoul National University (2007-2012). He then moved to the the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg to do his master's degree in opera singing (since 2012). He won first prizes in French Lieder singing and at the Elise Meyer Competition.
As a soloist, Isaak Lee has performed in numerous operas, including W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni, W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, W.A. Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro and La Traviata. In the oratorio field, he be heard regularly not only in Hamburg's main churches, but also in concert halls in various German and international cities such as Seoul and Saint Petersburg. Solo performances are planned for the Thomaskirche in Leipzig from the next season. In September 2014, during his studies, he received an offer to become a permanent member of the NDR Vokalensemble. Since then, he has taken on numerous solo roles and received praise from various daily newspapers and critics, such as: "Tenor Isaak Lee delighted audiences with his delicate mellowness and stupendous high C." - Die Welt and “Das Concerto “Nigra su” by Keunhyung Lee was top class, as touching as possible and as subtle as necessary” - Hannoversche Allgemeine Zeitung.
Isaak Lee has worked with conductors such as Alan Gilbert, Thomas Hengelbrock, Masaaki Suzuki, Andrew Manze, Laurence Cummings, Stephen Layton, Philip Ahmann and Klaas Stok. He married Hyerim Park on August 30, 2014, and currently lives in Hamburg, Germany. |
